What makes Afrotunda different from any other marketplace?
Every product on Afrotunda comes from an independent African or diaspora artisan, not a factory, not a reseller. We exist to connect the craft directly to you. When you buy here, a real maker benefits. That is the only kind of marketplace we want to be.
Are the products genuinely handmade?
Yes. Every maker on Afrotunda is vetted before they can list. We work exclusively with independent creators and small studios who make their goods by hand, often in small batches. Mass-produced items have no place here.
My item looks slightly different from the photo. Is that normal?
That is exactly how it should be. Handmade work carries the natural variation of the process, a slight difference in tone, texture, or proportion is not a flaw. It is proof that a person made it, not a machine. Every piece is genuinely one of a kind.
Who are the makers behind the products?
Real people with real stories. Each maker has their own storefront on Afrotunda where you can learn about their background, their craft, and what drives their work. We encourage you to visit their pages before you buy, knowing the maker is part of what makes the piece meaningful.
Do you ship to my country?
Many of our makers ship internationally. Shipping destinations, costs, and estimated delivery times are listed clearly on each product page. If you have a specific question about a shipment, you can contact the maker directly through their store page.
What is the return and refund policy?
Each maker sets their own policy, since every piece is crafted to order or in limited runs. You will always find the full details on the maker’s page and on the product listing before checkout, no surprises. Can I commission or customise a piece?
Many makers welcome custom work, a specific size, colour, material, or personal detail. Look for the custom order option on the maker’s page, or send them a message directly. Some of the most special pieces come from that conversation.
